My dad, a WTC survivor, worked there after his company relocated from temporary office space in New Jersey. They occupied several floors in one of the low-rise buildings on the plaza. From his 5th floor window he could watch the summer concert performances that the Today Show aired. He and his coworkers were thankful to be closer to ground level!

I had an office on the 18th floor of 30 Rock in the 90s, it always felt special to have my own space in such an iconic building.

My grandfather was a bricklayer. He worked on Rockefeller Center.

Rockefeller Center is one of the greatest urban designs of the 20th Century, simply put.

30 ROCK is a Cadillac of a building. I worked on the 49th Floor for 3 years for RCA (it was the RCA Building then), and for NBC (then owned by RCA) on the 4th-8th floors for a couple more. The doors go THUNK when you shut them, and when the weather permits you OPEN THE WINDOWS (even on 49), weigh down all the papers on your desk with a stapler or something, and enjoy the clean fresh breeze while you look out on 5th Ave. Unmatched work experience for me. You felt like you were part of something special just by showing up.

Radio City Music Hall was nearly demolished in the early 1980's! Fortunately an uproar ensued when those plans were announced, and it received landmark protection.

I went up to the top one morning. It was really early and the deck just opened as we got there. It was raining and grey but we thought well its the only time we can do it. walk over to the lift no lines lift open and ready, up we go. As we walked outside it was snowing.. Looing over to central park great big snow flakes pawing by was really special. We had the place to ourselves for ages.

Got to visit Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall back in 1983, on a High school trip! The Music hall had just been fully restored! Glad it still all looks the same!

You mention that John D. Jr. never went to the center, but actually the Rockefeller family office is located in number 30, the RCA building, or whatever it’s called now.

I worked on the 25th floor of 1271 AofA - right across from radio city hall and part of the Rockefeller center complex. I loved looking out the window and seeing the amazing beautiful art deco right across the street! It was pretty nice being able to get to work by train and never have to be outside in the rain or cold! Anything I needed was close by and it was always fun during the holidays. We had to move because they did a complete overhaul on the building and Im sure it's amazing.
