  No, older houses don’t have these problems. They do have problems but if they had THESE, they wouldn’t have lasted long enough to be “old homes”.

  5 years ago they rebuilt the Burger King near me. Going thru the drive thru I noticed the horizontal stones were not fastened to the wall underneath. Now every time I get a burger I also get a rock souvenir.

  I actually work specifically with new construction contracts for a contractor supplier. They buy the cheapest stuff, its a numbers game for them. The problem is rarely the materials, a really cheap new-construction vinyl window you find in these homes is going to be 1/5th the cost of an entry level pella window. However its still a perfectly tolerable window, it has ok ratings, you wont notice as an end homeowner.<br>What you will notice is the dirt cheap labor and subcontractors installing it wrong. Thats what 99% of this is, its just the cheapest possible labor doing the bare minimum work, they have every opportunity to make something &quot;ok&quot; by spending a little more on installers...

  I love the finger pointer guy! My mom&apos;s house rains inside because the contractor removed an entire horizontal beam from her steal frame house and the wind pushed her wall in around the fireplace. You can see daylight!
