For the record the loco was a King Arthur Class (N15) 806 (Southern (30806 British Railways)). This was the last of the class built in 1927 and was named Sir Galleron. My Father who knew the Driver and Fireman when he later worked at Gillingham Loco (73D BR Shed number) has told me that the loco and tender went through the blast but the leading bogie of the first coach fell into the gap. The Fireman was later diagnosed with a fractured arm, both he and the Driver suffered hearing problems later in life. The Driver stayed with the train to render assistance to the survivors along with the Guard. I have also been told by a sadly now departed Gentleman who witnessed the disaster that the pilot made several attempts to land on the nearby A2 Watling Street to render assistance, but was repeatedly waved off. I also understand the pilot broke radio protocol and alerted his control to get them to alert the emergency services. This was a well made video, thank you.

I'm originally from Rainham, I've driven under that bridge several times and never knew any of this. Thank you for telling Vera's story and in such a thoughtful sensitive way.
