*Correction* Apple TV Remote has a FindMy feature using Bluetooth signal strength, but it doesn't have precision find or a speaker like AirTags and AirPods do.
📑Blog Post: https://6monthslater.net/2024/11/google-tv-streamer-4k-vs-apple-tv-4k/
🛒 Product Links:
https://6monthslater.net/2024/11/google-tv-streamer-4k-vs-apple-tv-4k/

👉 View all of our recommended products: https://www.amazon.com/shop/6monthslaterreviews

🔗 Related Video links:
👉Apple TV 4K Review: https://youtu.be/gZohQzadl_c
👉Pixel Tablet Review: https://youtu.be/TGKVP3bdC1M
👉Pixel 9 Pro Fold vs. 9 Pro XL: https://youtu.be/HG5KMjA4_QE
👉Google videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2XWjlJjGp3t9ZGYEopWFANLI1DookqiR
👉Fujifilm X100VI Review: https://youtu.be/kP35PZReS0A

❤ Follow Josh:
👉 Threads: https://www.threads.net/@joshteder
👉 Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/joshteder/
👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshteder/
👉 Mastodon: https://mastodon.social/@joshteder
👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshteder/

There is a ‘Find my’ feature for the Apple Remotes by the way— it’s in the remote section of your iPhones control center

Biggest problem I have with anything google/android is the amount of ads built in to everything it seems.

Apps only mode on the Google TV streamer looks exactly the same as the grid on Apple TV. FYI

The biggest advantage I see to the Google streamer is that you can "still" install third party apps. I can have a custom YouTube version on my Chromecast or streamer. No ads, remove shorts if I want to. But it's not an out of the box experience if you want to go that route.

I have the google streamer- had a 10% off discount so got it for $90. It does have an app grid view too, but it does still do the banner ads at the top😅. I like it a lot because of the ease of Chromecast. Also can start all of my other google home devices. Since I mostly watch YouTube, it is great

There was no mention in the video (or comments) about profiles and/or kids Mode. Unfortunately, from what I could tell, Apple’s implementation is very limited—so much so that I ended up returning the Apple TV 4K and buying the Google TV 4K instead. The difference between the two in this regard is massive. Apple’s solution feels disjointed and incomplete, whereas Google’s approach is much more polished. It allows for proper parental controls, including locking parent profiles and restricting kids’ profiles to specific apps and age-appropriate content.

Free live TV. US (and wherever else) only, not available in the UK. PS: The Google streamer can be set to show apps only on the home screen.

Apple support is incredible. I bought my Apple TV 4K 3gen before my Sony AV amp and when I tried it with the Apple TV, the video was flickering horribly so it was unusable. At least I was able to use it by keeping it plugged directly to my TV as before and using ARC for audio to my new AV.

So I submitted the problem to the Apple community and Apple fixed it with their very next TVos software upgrade, only two months later.😅
