What Makes a Simple Life Beautiful? 🌸 Blooming Gardens, First Summer Harvest & My Animals

Peaceful country living, organic gardening, homegrown food, beautiful flower gardens, garden-to-table meals, and gentle animal care come together in these abundant summer days at MerryLand. 🌸🌿 Summer has filled my little world with nature’s most beautiful gifts—fragrant blooms, bountiful harvests, peaceful moments, and the simple joy of living close to nature. Welcome to MerryLand, my peaceful organic sanctuary, where summer has transformed the gardens into a living tapestry of color, fragrance, and abundance. Flowers are blooming everywhere. Waves of fragrant pink phlox drift through the landscape, lilies rise beautifully above clouds of purple catmint, roses prepare for their next flush of blooms, and bees and butterflies move gently among the flowers. My summer mornings begin surrounded by this beauty—the fragrance of flowers in the air, the peaceful sound of the fountain, and the familiar rhythm of caring for my gardens and wonderful animal family. As the season unfolds, the vegetable gardens and greenhouse are becoming wonderfully abundant. Cucumbers hang heavily from the vines, beans climb their trellises, tomatoes begin to ripen, squash and pumpkins grow larger by the day, and tiny fruits are forming on my fig trees. After months of planting, watering, tending, and patiently watching everything grow, these first summer harvests are especially rewarding. Basket after basket fills with homegrown Chinese cucumbers, Italian green beans, noodle beans, heirloom pole beans, Italian green squash, sweet banana peppers, Napa cabbage, fennel, tomatoes, and so much more. My garlic harvest gives us enough to enjoy throughout the year, with some of the tender fresh garlic becoming homemade sweet pickled garlic—a summer tradition that allows us to enjoy the garden long after the season has passed. One of the greatest joys of organic gardening is bringing the harvest straight from the garden to the table. Tender fennel becomes filling for homemade dumplings, freshly picked beans become a flavorful summer bean salad, and crisp cucumbers need little more than homemade hot pepper oil and a pinch of salt to become something delicious. Simple homegrown ingredients, prepared simply, somehow capture the flavors of summer best. 🥒🫘🥟 And throughout it all, my animals are never far away. Tiger happily rides along to the garden in his favorite basket, my geese follow me as I pull the harvest cart toward the greenhouse, and the chickens quietly wait nearby while I gather vegetables. Andy, my peacock, is going through his annual molt, while newly hatched ducklings bring another precious beginning to MerryLand. Even the squirrels return for their yearly share of my sweet corn, reminding me that a garden is never ours alone. 🌽😊 These are the summer days I treasure most—not because anything extraordinary is planned, but because ordinary life feels so full. Flowers blooming, vegetables ripening, animals walking beside me, food traveling from garden to table, and new little lives beginning around us. At MerryLand, the flower gardens, vegetable gardens, homegrown food, birds, butterflies, bees, cats, geese, peafowl, chickens, ducks, and all the changing seasons are part of one living sanctuary. It is a place where I can slow down, live close to nature, and appreciate how much peace, beauty, and joy can be found in life’s simplest moments.
