  Hi <br>Cantonment (army) areas in Pakistan are restricted zones. Foreign nationals are not allowed to pass through unless they have valid Pakistani ID or a Pakistani passport. This isn’t personal—it’s simply how the law works for security reasons. I was born in a cantonment area, so I’m familiar with these rules.<br>Your driver probably accepted the ride for 600 PKR assuming he could take a shortcut through the cantonment. Only after picking you up did the army personnel stop the vehicle and realize you were foreigners. They checked passports, contacted their command, and clearance was not granted, so the driver had no choice but to turn back and take a much longer route.<br>Because of that, the original fare no longer applied. The 2,000 PKR charge was for the longer route—not a scam, just a situation caused by misjudgment and language barriers. The driver likely didn’t realize you were foreign nationals when accepting the ride.<br>It wasn’t really your fault, and it wasn’t entirely his either—it was simply misjudgment and miscommunication. While the extra amount may not feel significant to tourists, it does matter a lot to local drivers.<br>I hope this helps explain the situation.<br>Enjoy your time in Lahore and Pakistan—hope the rest of your trip goes smoothly.

  He didn&apos;t scam you. &nbsp;He had to travel more than twice the distance of the direct route due to military cantonment restrictions. 900 was a fixed rate through the cantonment area, and 2000 is fine around it.

  Thanks! Apologies for the inconvenience however the driver didn’t scam you.. it was army cantonment area even us Pakistanis have to show id and stuff before being allowed to pass… hope you guys have a nice remaining trip..❤😊

  You guys are not scammed . The rider charged you because he got you there after a long route. Indrive is a fixed fare platform but he got you there after covering the extra route so guys shouldn&apos;t say this.

  I think you guys were harsh in saying that the driver was scamming you guys. He had to take a longer route so therefore there&apos;s going to be an increase in fare. That should be expected so for you guys to call it a scam was just rude! Especially when it wasn&apos;t his fault that he had to take a longer route, it was because you guys weren&apos;t allowed to go through that way. That really rubbed me the wrong way. However even with all that being said I still really enjoyed this video 📸 I&apos;ve really been enjoying all your videos from this series of traveling Pakistan it&apos;s been wonderful!! The hospitality that they have is unlike any other countries it&apos;s so beautiful to see!! Such beautiful landscape as well. Just a lovely country ❤

  Same thing happened to me yesterday trying to go to the Lahore Fortress. I was walking and they stopped me and said foreigners need special permission to enter - so not exactly a scam. Enjoy Lahore. I’ve been here for a week and loving it.

  That rent he put on indrive was for local residents. He did not knew that you foreigner booked the ride. The route through Cantt area was short that&apos;s why the rent was 900. But due to foreigners are not allowed to pass through cantt area therefore he has to take long route.
