What is your take on German bakery prices? Which one do you think has the best bang for your buck?

This is one of the things I love about Germany. There are so many affordable AND delicious bakery products. I am always satisfied after eating a worth of 3/4 euros of Aldi fresh bakery products!

I do live in Montreal , whenever I get a chance I buy German products ; bread , salami and so on - they are superior ! . Some are imported ,some are produce by German Canadians . European products are not only tastier but healthy as well !

The Aldi bakery stuff is actually split in two categories. The cheap items are from Aldi. The more expensive items are from a regional bakery which delivers the items to Aldi. In the Saarland Region it is "Bäckerei Gillen" for example and Aldi offers some of the items they sell in their bakery shops.

I don't see any difference between Kamps and the supermarket bakers. They are both industrial bakeries, which for me stand for the demise of small local private bakeries.

i really would have liked to see you go into a "selbstbedienungsgeschäft" like backwerk where you have to pick your own bakery goods and go to register ')

I so miss my this aspect of German Markts. If I couldn’t get to the Bakerei, I could drop into an Aldi or Lidl and pick up fresh baked goods.
*sigh*…. If only in the U.S.

The spinach-feta burek sticks look wonderful. A couple of those with a nice salad and a chilled beverage is dinner in summer, and the beautiful roll stuffed with scrambled egg and bacon is a quality breakfast sandwich. This was a marvelous episode---I could almost smell the lovely array of bakery aromas. You can find very closely duped recipes for large chain baked goods online, including Starbucks---whose items were always high priced.
Paying nearly five dollars for a filled croissant is quite pricey to me. I won't pay that and most Americans wouldn't either. Not in this current inflationary environment.
Mainly immigrants operate neighborhood bakeries now. The hours are hell and the days too long so when bakers retire they close up shop. Their kids are educated and don't want that kind of work life.

Walnußbrot!!!! And I know some will crucify me for buying bread in Lidl, but I just love their Weltmeisterbrot for the Mohn/poppy plus various seeds.

Nice video as always, when I was living in Greenwood SC, I drove often to Greenville to a german bakery, living now in Austria and can't get enough of those delicious pastries and bread here. Have a nice weekend and thanks for sharing with us.
