Thanks Drach, for bringing this to our attention and making it available. It’s like being a kid in a candy store, when we can sit back and enjoy speakers who have such devotion to naval history.

It's truly sad that, by no fault of Drach's, that, whoever was in charge of the audio on this, botched their job terribly, as it seems that at least 2 microphones aren't working, and ones mic ( person on the left) was making a annoying popping-surging. Sad that this production was ruined by the audio person, but good help seems hard to find lately.

Hopefully a biography of Ernest Evans will finally convince someone to make a film about the Battle of Samar.

I've been a member of the USNI since the Mid '90's. It's been well worth it.

I did enjoy the content on the Leyte Gulf operations, and I am anxiously awaiting content from Drach on the Battle of Surigao Strait, as it seems to be one of the most successful and well executed action of surface ships from the USN, or any navy, during WW II, but it seems to not get the exposure it truly deserves. I have only seen one other YT creator cover any details on it, but I think Drach could do it justice given some time and effort to research details.

Drach, do you feel that Frank Jack Fletcher needs to be included with discussions like this? Considering that he led the USN carriers during some of the early important battles, when carrier doctrine was unknown and being learned, and came out of each of them successful.

Admiral Jesse Oldendorf should be given his due. Admiral Raymond Spruance deserves more recognition as well

Ernest Evans was a hero and he was also a naval officer. He knew exactly what his duty was and there wasn't a force on Earth that would stop him from performing his duty. Being an officer in the military bears with it a responsibility to duty. If fulfilling that responsibility means that you lose your life that is what you do. All military men and women understand that their positions are predicated on them making the ultimate sacrifice. They don't just get to send other people they have to go themselves. God love our military, they all understand it not just the officers. People like to think that America's military is so formidable because of our technology. All the technology in the world will not win a war. There are people behind that technology whether the technology is an a rifle, a missile, a ship or communications. That is the secret to the formidable United States military. There's no magic it is the people.
