Always put water in your mixer first, some, not all. Then put in ingredients and turn on and add more water. That way your mix won't be dry in the back. Thanks for showing your process. My hypertufa has failed twice, I think my Portland was old. After 48 + hours it was still unmoldable without breaking. Ugh. Going to get some new Portland and try try again, lol. And it doesn't matter which side of the door the dog is on, it ALWAYS want to be on the other side...lol.

You remind me of me
I smooth my edges after 24hrs. It's strong but still a smidge soft so it rasps easier.
I do my walls thicker than you. 1.5 inches.
I wire rasp the outside. Nice texture. Drill cup or wheel works. Might be getting a bench buffer.
Have you tried staining with copper sulfate?
I'm making a press to make my pots fast, ez and uniform

I was thinking maybe you could use wire mesh like a enter mole for strength and just push the cement through it. My plants of choice are butterflies bushes,I have about 6 in various sizes and colors. I love butterflies and hummingbirds so all my plants are geared towards pollinators. California is great for plants but I still manage to kills some.
