  It’s kinda horrifying that in the book it’s implied that there were probably many other intelligent species out there but they weren’t technologically advanced enough to survive

  I think Rocky had a surplus of fuel because they got the time calculation wrong because they didn&apos;t know about relativity.

  So many movies forget that you cannot cry for someone unless you have laughed with them. This movie took that idea and RAN with it.

  It is my understanding that when Grace mentioned that they &quot;didn&apos;t understand radiation,&quot; they were specifically and exclusively talking about &quot;ionizing radiation.&quot;<br>Obviously they understood visible light and infrared, since they knew their own star was dimming, were able to locate the problem source, detect a star that didn&apos;t have the problem, and make a physical model of the infrared petrova line.

  in the book, they make it clear that 40 eridani is dying much slower than sol, so it makes sense that eridians would have more time to develop a ship with a method of returning home. also in the book they say that rocky has been in the tau ceti system floating around alone for 46 years before grace arrives 😢
