    The word “spinster” has a very complicated historical context. “Spinster” was an occupation that allowed women to be financially independent, and so it was turned into a slur/insult to degrade such independent women. Peak misogyny. Think of today’s “cat lady” 🙃

    Thank you for the amazing documentary! I watched the entire presentation from Long Island NY tonight from <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcdIROcwmv8&amp;t=450">7:30</a> to &nbsp;9. &nbsp;These women from the past broke ground for the legions of women that would come after them, and be able to rent, or purchase &nbsp;their own property, &nbsp;cars, and live their lives the way they chose to, regardless of what society dictated how they should live

    For years it was assumed that I am gay. At 30 I got married, which lasted about 3 to 4 yéars. His cousins pointed and whispered when we got married, then again when we got divorced.

    I don&apos;t find your history boring because it is how a lot of people actually lived, &nbsp;which is far more interesting than dates of wars, treaties etc. NY 11:30 PM
