  As someone from an ex Yugoslav country, after watching countless videos made by foreigners about Yugoslavia, I came to the conclusion that &nbsp;only &nbsp;we from the Balkan, can make a video that represents the real situation, every foreigner is always missing some key elements.

  I as part Macedonian, through many discussions over the years, had always assumed that Slavs never liked one another, due to past aggressions.<br>It wasn’t until recently, through random encounters with Croats, Serbs and Slovenes, I realised this was not the case.<br>The happiness in people’s eyes, when I mentioned my Mother is from Macedonia, when I spoke Slavic.<br>I’ve never had that before.<br>I felt proud to be Slavic, even though I grew up between Greece/Germany and never had any connection to Macedonia.<br>Although we are separate, we are still one big family.

  The Balkans are beyond gorgeous, Middle Earth itself, and the residents of Belgrade once saved my life. I got robbed and stranded, deep inside Serbia, by a Brit from whom I had accepted a ride to Greece. Four-day walk back to Belgrade, in shock when I arrived, with no ID. And, of course, the language barrier. They found someone who spoke decent French. Belgrade then fed me, gave me a bed and a shower, and the next day AMEX managed to redeem all of my cashier&apos;s checks before he could cash them. (I had memorized the serial<a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/s">#s</a>.) Belgrade, you&apos;re my home. I have loved you, with all my heart, for decades. &nbsp;Thank you for saving my life. &nbsp;❤

  I lost my childhood in that war and I also spend 7 days in a comma while my mother ran through the woods looking for help to save my life while I had a temp of 105 wrapped in a blanket while my body was turning black and blue, to almost seeing my brother shot by a sniper rifle which passed by his head and so much more. Thank you for making this video I hope people visit our beautiful countries back home and meet the special people and culture we have. We got divided by the power hungry countries who wanted resources and Yugoslavia was about to be bigger than America and Russia and they didn’t want that. The war nobody knows better than those who were in it and my mom was right hand for one of the presidents

  I have spent much time in Slovenia, Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia, and I agree that they are some of the nicest people in Europe.
