  We went on our very first cruise back in December. I had memorized the floor plans of the ship&apos;s public areas, and that saved us time and frustration on embarkation. <br>I had watched hours of videos, so I knew to avoid the buffet on the first day. We had already decided on a burger restaurant (Dive-In) on the Lido deck for lunch. I was able to navigate to the least used elevators and then back towards the Dive-In. The crew guided us to the drill station. We checked in and enjoyed lunch while we waited on the room. We watched the video as soon as we got to the room, and then our time was our own to explore. My husband was impressed I was able to guide him to specific areas without the need of a map. Incidentally, I had printed out a deck plan map months earlier, and studied it until I knew every corridor, elevator, staircase, shop, and restaurant. I had watched POV videos of ship tours, until I could picture every turn by memory. It pays to do research.

  After 45 cruises we still head to the buffet for lunch. It’s a tradition for us that tells us we are “really there!”

  As soon as I head inside ship, I go straight to my Muster Station. Get that over, and then relax at Java Bleu. Experienced cruiser.

  OK, so the picture showed a woman in a lime green shirt and said &quot;never wear this on 1st day&quot;... never wear WHAT?? I don&apos;t think that was ever addressed, was it? I hate videos that lure you in with one thing and then it&apos;s not a thing. Irritating.

  Usually there is a designated area to leave this type of luggage temporarily. On Princess it was a dining room

  We have always cruised with Cunard and have never had to wait for our cabin to be available and our luggage usually arrives shortly afterwards. The ship is never overcrowded and there is always somewhere quiet to sit and have a coffee or read a book - even on sea days.
