August 14, 2026 | CLAUDIA SHEINBAUM, President of Mexico | #MorningPressConference MORNING PRESENTATION • Friday, August 14, 2026 President Claudia Sheinbaum led the morning press conference from the National Palace, where the main topics were the cancellation of U.S. visas for Mexican politicians, the "Mexico Embraces You" strategy to receive repatriated Mexican nationals, security cooperation with the United States, the economic situation, and the upcoming State of the Union Address. She also confirmed Omar García Harfuch's participation in an international security meeting in Argentina. --- 🇲🇽🇺🇸 SHEINBAUM DENOUNCES INTERFERENCE OVER VISA CANCELLATION One of the topics that generated the most attention was the United States' decision to cancel visas for politically exposed persons in Mexico, including Andy López Beltrán. Sheinbaum stated that: 📌 The measure has an essentially political purpose. 📌 She does not believe there is a criterion applied uniformly to all countries. 📌 If the United States has information about possible crimes, it must present evidence. 📌 Mexico demands respect between countries and will defend its national sovereignty. The president also criticized sectors of the opposition who, she said, seek to have U.S. authorities intervene in Mexican political affairs. --- 🛡️ HARFUCH WILL TRAVEL TO ARGENTINA FOR A SECURITY MEETING Sheinbaum confirmed that the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, will participate in an international meeting organized by the DEA in Argentina. The objective will be to present the results of the Mexican security strategy, particularly: 📉 Reduction in homicides. 📉 Reduction in high-impact crimes. 🤝 Cooperation with the United States. 🇲🇽 Defense of sovereignty under the principle of “coordination without subordination.” --- 🇲🇽 MEXICO EMBRACES YOU: MORE THAN 271,000 REPATRIATED The Federal Government presented a new report on Mexico Embraces You, a program designed to receive and support Mexicans returning from the United States. She also highlighted the peso's performance against the dollar and indicated that the government maintains a positive outlook for the national economy. --- ⛽ PEMEX AND OIL PRODUCTION Sheinbaum reported that Pemex's production remains below 1.8 million barrels per day. She explained that the production level is due, among other factors, to the management of oil fields and criteria related to energy and environmental policy. -- 📺 FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND RIGHT OF REPLY The president again defended the role of the morning press conferences as a space for information and rebuttal. She asserted that there is broad freedom of expression in Mexico and rejected accusations that the government intends to compile lists of journalists or media outlets. She also defended the "Right of Reply" conference, led by Luisa María Alcalde, as a mechanism to respond to information that the government considers false or distorted. --- 🏛️ UPCOMING GOVERNMENT REPORT Sheinbaum announced that she will present her report on her first two years in office in October. She indicated that the public service announcements will have a different format and will aim to showcase a closer relationship between the President and the citizens. --- 🎤 MEXICO SINGS AND LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE The President announced that Los Tigres del Norte will receive an award from the National Music Council during the semifinals of the second edition of México Canta, which will take place at the Orpheum Theatre in the United States. --- August 14, 2026 | #August14 #claudiasheinbaum #mañaneradelpueblo #pressconference #Sovereignty #MexicoEmbracesYou #Security #Repatriation #UnitedStates
