Ali played with Middleburger unti he wanted to end the fight and go home.

The British commentator was obviously watching a different fight from the one I was.The bloodied, brave, big hitter, blah, blah lost after the referee stopped fight to avoid the obvious knockout.

I was around in the sixties and was a big boxing fan. To be honest, Ali didn't have any tough fights in the 60's...He was just too good for everyone. But my favorite fight of his was the one with Chuvalo in 66. Because Chuvalo couldn't really be hurt. I got to see Ali ply his trade and display his art in the ring for a full 15 rounds...He was incredible. the chucking, the jiving, the combinations, the speed, the movement both of hands and body. An early version of 'rope a dope'. He was the best...I believe this version of Ali was the greatest heavyweight of all time. He was still a formidable force in the 70's but wasn't anywhere as good as he was in the 60's...just my two cents.

Ali going up to Mildenberger and resting/tapping his glove on him for a sec...that's spirit. I wonder if there's video of him reflecting on that moment where Ali did that.

There are a lot of close fights in Ali's career, and a host of questionable decisions.  If you watch this fight you realize this is not one of those contests.  Mildenberger took a tremendous amount of damage and lost almost every round.  It is a good fight, but not a particularly competitive one.

This is another example of how an awkward “southpaw “ can give even the best a tough time …..Usyk is a southpaw and very good , strong and cleaver as is Crawford in a lower weight..

He was toying with him he was letting him throw all those punches to tire him out. That was an easy long fight.
