Another huge pro for grassy tram tracks: permeability. They help the city soak in the rain water, mitigating floods.

As a tram technician, this video fills me with pride, knowing that my work helps keep the city well connected. My best wishes to everyone, keep on rails!

In (tropical) Bergen, Norway, one of the main arguments of the people whining about how horrible an LRT through the city and across Bryggen would be would be that it'd be a barrier to pedestrians because they'd have to wait for trams to cross before crossing the road. You know, the trams that mostly aren't there, and have five minutes or more between each passing.

...Which would obviously be a major downgrade from the way it is today, when there's a steady stream of cars, buses, and trucks and you can only cross at crosswalks if you don't want to risk your life.

    Great work on the video.
As an American I have a hard time watching your content sometimes. It's just the stark contrast between the beautiful cities of Europe designed for humans and The wretched sea of strip malls and parking lots that American cities have been reduced to

-"We need something to transport large quantities of people on set routes".
-"Trains?"
-"No, we need something small that will fit in the city."
-"Small trains?"
-"Perfect!"
I love trams! Here in Warsaw we have a pretty extensive tram network which combined with the metro lines and a whole bunch of buses makes it so you're basically never more than a short walk away from public transport and you can get around the whole city and its suburbs with it, so having a car is personal convenience and not necessity.

Buses are great for getting the data to show people where the tram line ought to be built. Here in Metro Vancouver there are suburban lines that are regularly at capacity with buses having to skip stops because they're full. There's discussion about adding more buses, and bigger buses to the routes but I think we should just cut to the chase and build a tram line

Trams have always felt to me like horizontal elevators for cities. They’re an integral part of the city which gets people to their destination faster, while not feeling like an inconvenience. You don’t need to own anything to be able to use the network (though you might need a pass), unlike cars or even bikes. You don’t need to worry about parking or coming back to your parking spot when you are finished with your journey. They make the city feel like one single connected organism and I love them

Grassy tramtracks are so underappreciated, I still remember when I moved to Barcelona when I was younger and saw them for the first time, absolutely amazing urban design.

I also like them because bus drivers in my country do this cute thing where they make up their own routes and skips stops. It's been mentioned as a disadvantage but I love that trams don't have a flexible route.
