taris is my fav planet bc the lore and different communities of people makes it feel real. learning about all the different cultures and history, and then leading the bottom layer ppl to the “promised land” just for everyone to die was so sad 😭😭 I also rlly like carth and mission so I found the companion interactions fun

Taris has a special place in my heart. When i first played this game so many years ago i was far too young to know what i was doing i ended up spending multiple sessions a day playing through Taris wandering around not knowing where to go or what to do and just stumbling across quests and the main story as a whole. No matter what anyone says i will always play Taris and i will always love Taris.

I didn’t know people hated Taris so much I didn’t think it was too bad I liked how you got to dual people and be a bounty hunter the dualing thing is something I wish you could’ve done on other planets that was fun. way easier for me than trying to figure out swoop racing on the other planets. The only tedious part that annoyed me is when you have to do the whole side quest of getting the experimental swoop bike engine from that base and kill those people

Having beaten both KOTOR games for the first time just this past month: Taris was fine. (If a bit slow when I rented the game for the first time as a grade schooler all the way back in the sixth console generation) It was expansive, the visuals were varied and striking, the tutorials felt naturally integrated into a living world.

Peragus in the sequel can GTH. It's a cramped, ugly slog, an exercise in powerlessness that sets the player off on the foot that they are not here to have an open adventure, they are here to solve the puzzles to unlock the next chunk of a story that we're invited to watch more than we are to participate in.

In KOTOR 1, I had thought a questgiver bugged out until I remembered that my racist ass forgot that Taris had a second Hutt that I was supposed to collect my bounty from. In KOTOR 2, I didn't even see an alien (one of the Ithorians at the docks on Telos, the second level in the game) until I was already level 7.

15:05 It is important to note the Jedi's insistence on the use of Battle Meditation to stop the Sith in KOTOR is because it is wielded by someone they know and depend on to listen to the Council (mostly). When someone with a similar power to override the wills of others appears in KOTOR 2, the Jedi decry its use because they fear they cannot directly oversee or trust the individual with this ability. Its another great example of how the Jedi's need for control demonstrates their rampant hypocrisy.

Taris is always my favourite planet. Back when I was 10 or 12 and I finally escaped Taris, seeing everything I knew at that point get blown up was like learning Darth Vader was Luke's father. It's forever etched into my memory

I start as a Scout and hold at Lvl 4 on Taris. Some people say they can hold at 2, but 4 is the lowest that I can hold, win the Duel Ring etc.

I don’t enjoy Taris necessarily, but I don’t hate it. Leaving Taris is a significant part of the game that’s like a first ending almost

Bastilla being abrasive/mean when you rescued her is just like Leia when she's "rescued" by Luke. She warms up to him quickly enough, but stays cold with Han a lot longer

Thanks for teaching me about the existence of narratology/cognitive narratology.
