  I used to hate taking the DC metro because my family grew up without a car and we never got to go anywhere the train/bus couldn't take us. As an adult I'm so thankful that I had it.

  Having a Metro train get in the way of your shot is infinitely better than a MARTA bus blocking your shot of a stadium implosion after waiting there for hours.

  Here's a fun fact about the Original 1976 DC Metro. At one time, Metro owned homes (required to buy out existing Home owners) on Blair Road NW, due to the widening of that street to accommodate the tracks adjacent to the CSX tracks. They actually had a rent to buy program for 1 year with option to buy. Metro was  required to sell at cost. A zillow listing of $352K is present for a home that sold for $23K back then.

  I was 9 years old when the DC 🚇 Metro first opened. My parents took me and my brother to the Rosslyn Station in Arlington on opening day in 1976. I had never seen an escalator that long. It is now 2026, and I am 58 years old and I still ride Metro. It is a great system and the DMV is lucky to have it!

  I worked at the plant in Georgia that built the first 300 cars,it was a great job.

  Whenever I ride the DC Metro underground, I don't know why but I get a craving for waffles. LOL!

  For those who do not know Metro also had a plan to expand their train lines to BWI, spotsylvania, Owings Mill by 2025 this expansion plan was in place 15 years ago

  At the time of making this comment, crews are currently in the process of adding a 2nd entrance at the Crystal City station (served by Yellow & Blue line trains), specifically at the intersection of Crystal Drive and 18th Street.

  The DC Metro is one of my favorite aspects of living in this area for the past 34 years. I love my Metro.

  L'Enfant Plaza is similar to Metro Center, but has no red line. Green/Yellow upper level and Blue/Orange/Silver lower level
