Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2 are good for different reasons. The first is good because it focuses on the brother-sister relationship which makes the story more personal. The monster was much more mysterious in the first one too. But the 2nd one is good because as you said, it showcases the monster a lot better. There's also more kills in this one.

The one thing that bugs me about the opening scene is them ignoring the barking dog. As someone who grew up on a farm, you never ignore the dog when they are barking. It means either someone is coming or there is some other animal around that isn't supposed to be there. The whole point of having the dog is to warn you of stuff.

The fact that the kid was calling to his brother first was kinda sad

Oh, if you think the Creeper is a PDF, it's because the writer/director, Victor Salva, is one.

Fun fact the coach at 28:17 was in part 1. He is the one getting arrested for stealing the Chevy Nova

So, the actual lore about Jeepers Creepers is that he is a bat from hell, literally. But it is also parasitic. The part where he tore off his damaged head to replace it, you see the little arms helping to rip it off. THAT is the actual Creeper. The body is just a human host it took over. That is why it has to always replace it body parts with new ones because they eventually decay over time even though it can preserve them while it is the host of the body. The wings are part of the bat but grow bigger to fit the size of the host. So yes, it is a literal demon. It is a demon bat straight from hell, where they are a common entity. So, in that universe, even a weak demon that is as common as they come is this much of a menace on earth.

The 1st one was terrifying. The 2nd one was more entertaining. Both decent, but as far as horror is concerned, the 1st is better.
