These stories need more realistic protagonists. They're always perfect. Never raise their voice, never even really defend themselves, always impossibly humble, never dress flashy or have a nice car. They have no personality at all. And then at the end of the story if they're lucky enough to get an apology they always go "No, it wasn't your fault. You were raised by the same parents." Like they're too humble to even accept an I'm sorry

The one thing these stories say without saying is that unless you achieve enough success to make people at least treat you with respect, they would continue to treat you however they did when you didn't have that success. You can deal with that how you wish, but need to remember that you can never trust those people; they showed you what they actually thought of you at first.
