"all parties involved in a fight get punished" is way too common in schools and I assume it's just because they don't want to bother figuring out who's at fault.

The irony of the unicorn thing is that in medieval times they were considered a symbol of christian purity, especially virginity.

When I was eleven, I was standing up on the bus waiting to get off. An older boy behind me grabbed my butt. It scared me and I panicked. Because there were people in front of me, I couldn’t run so instinctively I turned around and punched him. The bus driver saw this and sent me to the principal. I told them what happened but they said it was my word against his because no one saw him grope me. They suspended me. My mom was FURIOUS. She treated the suspension like a vacation and I got ice cream and toys and whatever I wanted. She was proud of me for standing up for myself and said I did nothing wrong. My mom’s awesome.

I (14 at the time, agender transmasc) volunteered at my local library last summer. I was helping out with this reading challenge for little kids so I interacted with parents quite alot.

Now for context, I don't always pass as masculine that well, especially since i like to wear eyeliner and eyeshadow. So on one of my first days there, this mum and her little girl comes in. The kid was probably about six and asked me if i was a boy or a girl. I said boy (because I'm more comfortable being referred to as such and she was a little kid), and her mother interrupted me and said "she's a girl."

I corrected her and pointed to my he/they pronoun pin but she just rolled her eyes and kept referring to me as "the nice girl" and she.

When I was finished helping them, a lady who worked in the library came over and asked if I was okay. I explained what happened and she wa clearly annoyed.

A bit later the lady and her daughter came over again, the lady looking very angry. The little girl said "mummy keeps calling you a girl but you look like a boy and that's what you said you were, are you a girl or a boy?"

I responded with "I'm a boy, your mummy clearly doesn't know the difference"

The look on this lady's face when her daughter said "yeah, she keeps calling my big brother a girl too even though he's not my sister anymore. I think she's broken!"

I had to try so hard not to laugh, they left straight after, the lady practically dragging the little girl away.

Not exactly r/traumatizethemback but she looked traumatized as hell. Hope that little girl and her brother are doing okay.

My daughter is 6. She was being bullied by this girl who constantly tells her she's ugly. I told her to say "ok." And walk away. It worked lol. Then she started up again and I told her "next time she says you're ugly, start sniffing the air, make a cringe face, sniff towards her and say "omg, is that your breath?", cover your nose, cringe your face and walk away." It's been a year and the girl doesn't even speak to her anymore 😂

Yep, zero tolerance fighting policies are utter bullshit. My school district was forced to change it after a 6th grader was punched unconscious by a bunch of 12th graders. They were actually gonna suspend him and his hella brave friend who literally used his body as a shield, well until the parents threatened to sue the district.

"Never start a fight, but always finish it" sounds like the advice an anime parent/mentor would tell their child/student.
But it's really good irl advice.

12:16 Of course she wouldn't want to be into unicorns again, they became a symbol of trauma. What mother burns and destroys a specific piece of imagry from their child's life and thinks it /wont/ be remembered as specifically a terrible memory??

"All parties involved in a fight get punished."
Kids quickly realized even if you didn't start it, you're going to get punished anyway so why not go all out?
So under this rule fights are often MORE DANGEROUS than they would have been under different circumstances.

Fun Fact: Unicorns in the Bible are actually associated with Jesus. So that grandma doesn’t even know much about that book she loves so much.

When I was pregnant with my first child, my husband and I were in line at the market. I was REALLY pregnant, like unmistakably pregnant. There was a woman ahead of us who noticed me and squealed, “When are you due?” While reaching for my stomach. I looked her in the eye and said, “I’m not pregnant. It’s a tumor.” The woman was HORRIFIED. All of her groceries were already on the belt so she was stuck there. Once she was gone, my husband burst into laughter and asked me why. I said I was tired of being fondled by strangers. I’m POSITIVE she never did that again.

My mother had an unusual condition in the last months of her life. Her stomach filled with water, making her look pregnant. She needed it drained in the hospital every couple of months. She was in her late 40s at the time, but looked younger(if sickly). She took a lot of joy in traumatizing people who were pushy about her supposed pregnancy, telling her what to eat, how to care for the ‘baby’, trying to touch her, etc.
