So the main reason why the ballista spider has developed this way of catching food is cause when a green tree ant dies it releases pheromones that will alert the rest of the hive to go to where it died and attack whatever killed it. With the spider killing the ant in its web high up it makes it safe from the rest of the hive coming after it.

Highway 1 serves as the major part of a grey nomads (retired people that go traveling mostly in caravans, motor-homes etc) Big Lap trip around all of Australia, my grandparents did it when I was a kid and I think it took them about 6 months in a caravan to do the lap.

Highway 1 is the longest continuous road. If you've ever driven a ring road, then it's a comparison for what Highway 1 is: a ring road with a few smaller branches that circles the entire continent. Other highways throughout the world are technically longer, such as the Pan-American Highway that traverses both continents, but are interrupted by geological obstacles and may or may not span multiple countries (the Darien Gap, a 100-kilometer break in the road between Panama and Colombia, renders the Pan-American Highway not fully drivable). The Darien Gap along the Pan-American Highway is among the wettest places on Earth, with annual rainfall exceeding 100 inches (2,500 mm) in parts - this triggers flash floods, mud slides, and leaves the ground unstable for long stretches of time. Some parts don't even have discernable bedrock, making putting a road through the gap basically impossible.

So, for the longest fully drivable highway, Australia's Highway 1 is it; even in the US where I live, the longest individual Interstate route is just over one-third Highway 1's length. Australians will give the US a lot of crap, but a healthy number of those I've spoken to will say something along the lines of "you know, they may be on to something with their Interstate highway system".
