The biggest con was forcing us to be paid into a bank account instead of in a pay packet in cash

If the banks get their way, there'll be no cash. Everyone will be charged to spend their own hard earned money.

My late grandmother used to have her money in the post office. And she had savings in the house that she never touched. Only on rainy days, and Christmas. She was brilliant with taking care of her money. God bless you Nan love you. ❤️

My parents taught me to "not buy anything unless you had the money to pay for it there and then". The only thing I have ever paid interest on was a motgage. I tought my kids the same and that is why they had money to save, and are buying houses by themselves in their 20s (ie big deposits) as they have no debt to service each month.

My Mum handled all the money (very well). My Dad got "pocket money" and I'm sure she did too. When she died (my Dad had died much earlier), she'd bought the house and had a substantial amount in the bank. Split between the siblings, it wasn't life-changing, but it was surprising.
