I don't understand why no one knows about Cesium-137, Goiânia, 1987; the greatest radioactive accident in Brazil. It was not that big an event compared to Tschernobyl or Hiroshima, but it still seems to me as the most bizarre one, for it was entirely caused by an old-fashioned x-ray machine. A waste-picker walked into a garage and found this blue-ass glowing powder inside the scraps of a broken x-ray machine. He brought it into his home, and because it was so beautiful and shiny, he planned to make his wife a ring out of it. Then everyone started feeling sick and that's how little Cesium-137 killed an entire fucking family, the waste-picker being the sole survivour, and contaminated a whole city, causing people to have most of their clothes thrown away and then buried. After this particular incident, all x-ray machinery underwent complete reformulation in Brazil.
