To answer your question at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeSLfFWsYYQ&t=1240">20:40</a> about the bolts: The n53/N54 got magnesium bolts from the factory to save weight for the classification of the engine. The magnesium saved lots of weight, they are marked with a blue head. When you buy a replacement bolt from the dealer it's aluminium because the magnesium ones are one time use. It was only to save weight from the factory.

Btw block is magnesium. All bolts that thread into the block are aluminium. Steel would corrode the magnesium.

I've been waiting for someone to do a comprehensive rebuild on an N53 for ages. This is awesome! I know that the N53 gets bad reputation but this is truly the last NA inline 6 BMW ever made and at 272PS it has a high specific power, that makes it very special.
