I think the book is so much better (but simultaneously, so much sadder) on rereads. Once you start to actively look for the subtle clues the drops throughout the prose.

My heart aches the most with Chiron besides the main characters. He knew the boys loved each other and he knew all the terrible things about to happen. “Do not let what you gained this day be so easily lost” will always get me.

The thing that I can’t get over is how their love story wasn’t this huge declaration, it was slow and sure and neither of them questioned the others love, it was just always there, without needing some big action to prove it

I didn’t cry, my eyes just pricked, but I think it’s because I finished it on a bad day. I still felt like throwing up and haven’t stopped thinking about it since I finished it.

Is that how they pronounced Patrocles' name in the audio book? I always thought it rhymed with Hercules.

I think I’m a bit confused as why everyone’s so surprised is I have one of those ADHD brains, and so when Achilles said, he had a dream of killing Hector and standing over him, and he didn’t feel anything. Like he didn’t care. I took that as oh OK so something is gonna happen. That would make Achilles want to die and the only thing that could make that happen would be Patroclus lol
