  My wife recently heard "gangsters paradise" at her root canal. You mentioned root canal and we just had a conversation about how awkward her experience was a few days ago. Society has certainly normalized terrible music.

  In my community I know elderly seniors, in their 70&apos;s who discovered that they qualify for certain financial benefits and for caregivers and such but NOT as a married couple. &nbsp;So in order to qualify they divorced each other on paper to qualify for more food stamps as individuals, and to qualify for more medical benefits and also so one spouse could be paid to be a caregiver, it gave that spouse more benefits to take care of the other. &nbsp;However, they still consider themselves spiritually married under God. &nbsp;This particular couple being believers in Christ Jesus actually consulted their pastor and explained their dilema. &nbsp;They had their finances explained on paper by their attorney. &nbsp;It was pretty much black and white proof they would be better off financially divorced, and living as roommates. &nbsp;It sounds insane. &nbsp;But I this is what they did.<br><br>Now I am aware of several couples doing this in our senior building. &nbsp;And making out wills to make sure their &quot;roommates inherit from each other.&quot; &nbsp;This is the fault of our State and Federal government punishing people for staying married and limiting benefits under Medicare and medicaid and the Trump Administration eliminating certain benefits. &nbsp;I find this situation very sad.<br><br>Point: My sister and I cannot live as roommates either. &nbsp;But she can live with me as my live in caregiver! &nbsp;Under this stipulation she can be on my housing voucher and not be homeless. &nbsp;Yet we are both disabled, and need the services of a caregiver for both of us--she performs activities for me personally that just barely qualify her to be my live in, because I cannot live alone anymore. &nbsp;Every year-3 years we recertify. &nbsp;MY doctor and her doctor have to fill out paperwork. &nbsp;By the grace of God we get permission. &nbsp;WE play by the rules. &nbsp;In the beginning I had to ask no less than five agencies involved in my life to get permission to do this--all five agreed to allow me to take her into my household. &nbsp;This was 10 years ago. &nbsp;She is legally listed as my live in caregiver, but she is my younger sister. &nbsp;WE get along just fine. &nbsp;Praise the Lord and go to church together. &nbsp;Michelle Reed, Gresham Oregon USA
