  My grandfather was one of the sailors that got his autograph on a California menu. He had it framed and now I have it since he passed it down to me.

  My grandmother knew all those guys, and many were at her house on any given Sunday for dinner. She was a young teenager back then and lived a lavish lifestyle. Her father disappeared in 1931 while on his way to Chicago. He was never heard from again, nor seen. His body was never recovered. Her mother kept asking where her husband was, and Luciano himself told her she has to stop asking about him and not to come around anymore. &nbsp;It is believed that was the final move for Luciano”s rise to the top. &nbsp;I knew my great grandmother, she died when I was about 7. &nbsp;Listening to my grandmother talk of her memories was amazing. She told of one time during a gathering at her house there was a raid, and several of the men gave her and her sisters their guns to hold knowing they wouldn’t be searched. My grandmother hiding the gun of a gangster in her purse. Shocking, lol. &nbsp;She went to Frankie Yale’s funeral, she was much younger then, but couldn’t get over the crowd size and flowers. &nbsp;My grandmother passed away some time ago, before the internet was around. I should have documented her memoirs, they were so interesting. &nbsp;I have a set of demitasse spoons from the restaurant her father had in Coney Island, which is known for a few events that transpired. &nbsp;I never got the chance to meet my great grandfather like I did with his wife. Who knows if he would have lived to a ripe old age, but Lucky saw to it that he didn’t. &nbsp;Hey, that was the life back then. They all knew it. &nbsp;Watch your enemies close, but watch your friends closer.

  Lucky Luciano was a genius in the life. I cried when he was deported and especially when he died. Thank you 💛 for this excellent documentary about him. He was the greatest.
