Muzak Memories Classic Shopping Music from the 60s & 70s

  I remember shopping malls and stores playing this style of Muzak.  The smell of new clothes, the shiny new appliances.  The good shoes, very few people wearing tennis shoes.  Button up shirts, tucked in.  No jungle antics in the stores.   There were colors everywhere, cars were colorful, clothes were colorful, appliances were colorful.  Now everything seems dull. A parking lot has black, white, and some versions of silver or gray cars. People wear a lot of black clothes.  Even McDonald’s was more colorful.  People were a lot skinnier then. Every body smoked.  Cars were bigger.  I remember true hippies, riding in junky cars, and digging into garbage cans for food.  TV, now romanticizes a lot of bad stuff, and plays down the good stuff. The main thing in shopping stores, is that the ceilings were a lot lower.  If you know where some of the old stores are at, that are used for something else, then you know what I’m talking about.  There are channels on YouTube that play KMart Muzak, brings back memories.   You can even smell the stores.oh, and the only people that had tattoos, were military people, or strippers.

  It used to be fashionable to criticize this music, but now I wish I could go back to it.

  I love that the volume is so low. This kind of music you're not supposed to hear on high volume.

  I worked at the Kodak Processing Laboratory in Annandale (Sydney, Australia) during the 70s and they had a Muzak system playing for the workers. It was wonderful to work to the sound of soft, gentle music, so much so that I set up the house with my own 'Muzak' system, which I still use to this day (even extended to outdoors in the yard and work area). As Bob Hope would say, thanks for the memories.   😊😊😊

  At 65, I clearly remember this background music 🎶 playing at supermarkets, department stores, malls, etc. I still love it and play it throughout the entire house witha central amplifier and vintage ceiling speakers 🔊

  This kind of music is therapy to me. I loved going shopping with my parents when I was a kid. Both my parents have passed away and when I hear mall/grocery store muzak, I feel like I'm in a store with them all over again.

  I'm a rock guy and a composer...and I grew up with this stuff.   Even when people thought I was nuts...wearing a RUSH shirt and digging Eddie Van Halen's Eruption...I just loved this style.  It's a big part of my childhood.

  While i wouldn’t go back in time(i love the era i live in now), i still think muzak music is so freaking wonderful. <br>I never get tired of hearing this.❤❤❤❤
