This whole world 🌎 need to stop it's nonsense. A 12yr-17yr old is still a child. Let a fully grown adult man go and look for a fully grown adult woman, and stop the carnal knowledge with kids. And raise that 100 days to 100 months in jail to detour other adults from such ridiculous and evil behavior.

This was a very informative report. But one very important fact missing was this: nearly all the residents of Pitcairn are members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This is a church whose primary doctrine is keeping the Law of God. I would like to see this important fact added.

Hello. I am Rebecca Rennie (also known as songwriter FREYjA) and I edited Dennis's memoir THE MANY FACES OF CRIME : A True Detective's Chronicle. Unfortunately, we chose to remove this Pitcairn story from the book. Such a marvellous book. I hope he publishes the story in some other format some day. It's great, this docco video. I am so glad the story is getting out there. Can't help myself....but as an editor, I always notice small inconsistencies. I wonder if anyone else noticed the two errors in the voice over 1. narrator read 'understood' but the text on the sign on PItcairn Island when they made their apology actually said 'we understand'. To me the difference is important. 2. The book was called Lost Paradise. The only reason I think this is important is so that there is no confusion with the renowned poetic text Paradise Lost by Milton. Good for you Al Jazeera getting this out there. I specialise in memoir and this was one of the most intense projects in my stable of books. An incredible editing/ re-writing voyage during a period of over 2 years. Thank you Dennis McGookin for all the work you have done in the world to bring justice to victims.

Has Australia done a similar investigation of Norfolk Island? Seems like they are proud of their heritage and attitudes. Not to rule out the same offences would be a crime by Australia. They haven’t long transferred from Pitcairn and keep those connections.

It's staggering to find out the Pitcairn Island's mayor is now Shawn Christian who was convicted of child rape.
