This story is full of holes. Bodhidharma taught the minks at Shaolin a watered doen version of an ancient East Indian martial art known as Kalaripayattu, which predates Chinese Kung Fu by 10,000 years. To this very day, Wu Shu and various other Lung Fu forms still contain stances used in the 10 animal styles of Kalaripayatru.

You had me in the beginning when you were implying that Kung Fu emerged, developed, evolved, rose,... from and with as a byproduct of the Chinese culture. Let me add that Chinese martial arts history and Chinese cultural history are inseparable. Chinese martial arts is part of the fabric of Chinese culture. It can be traced back in different periods, stages,... including it's germination as far back as over 3 million bce, prehistory, 20,000 bce, 10,000 bce, 9,000 bce, 7,000 bce as the oldest and earliest evidence of a Chinese writing system was present and the start of history, 4,000 bce where there's evidence of warring military groups, 3,000 bce many groups in the area shared and formed the Huaxia people, Yu Dynasty, Xia Dynasty, Shang Dynasty, Zhou Dynasty, Qin Dynasty and the establishment of China as a country, Han Dynasty and the establishment of the Huaxia people as the Han people a.k.a. Chinese people,... Throughout history Chinese martial arts as a collective of cultures has evolved and continued to evolve. Chinese martial arts such as "Plum Flower" which was an umbrella name that covered many martial arts that were of the military and "Shuai Jiao" which was also another umbrella name for various arts, mainly Wrestling with ancient history from many different cultures such as Mongolian Wrestling, Manchurian Wrestling, Chinese Wrestling,... are as old as Chinese history as a collective of many different cultures. After the end of the last, Manchu Qing Dynasty the 5 main cultures in China that shared power at that time were the Han, Mongolian, Manchurian, Hui & Tibetan.

You lost me at Buddhabhadra and Bodhidharma as there are holes and incorrect information. You claimed to tell the true history of Kung Fu but it's this same world wide and historical tradition of the perpetual spread of misinformation you are taking part of.

Before the Shaolin Temple was built Buddhabhadra(Batuo) had with him 2 Chinese ex-military/warrior/martial arts experts turned Buddhist monk disciples, Sengchou and Huiguang. There are records and evidence of martial arts present, used to defend by Sengchou and Huiguang at the Shaolin Temple before the arrival of Bodhidharma(Tamo). Chinese ex-military/warrior/martial arts experts retired and turned Buddhist monks were common at that time in China. Bodhidharma(Tamo) arrived at the Shaolin Temple with his future to be disciple who was also a Chinese ex-military/warrior/martial arts expert retired and turned esoteric Buddhist monk prior to meeting Bodhidharma, Huike. He dedicated his left arm as he chopped it off to become Bodhidharma's disciple. It was he who changed things, put things forward and gave all the credit to his master Bodhidharma at the Shaolin Temple and the monks would bow with their right arm one hand on their chest to honor and show courtesy to Huike. Especially after becoming the Abbot of the Shaolin Temple Monastery and appointed 2nd(After Bodhidharma, but actually and technically was the 1st) Patriarch of "Chinese Chan Buddhism" sect. Where Bodhidharma(Tamo) was the 28th Patriarch of it's mother sect. of "Indian Mahayana Buddhism".

According to experts the "Muscle/Tendon Change Classic" was a product of the 19th century which credit was given to Bodhidharma, by a Taoist who came up with it. But, was later founded to be forgery. And that "Muscle/Tendon Change" was Taoist in origin. So too were the "8 Pieces of Brocade" and other things associated with Bodhidharma. A part of Chinese Chan Buddhism which is Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Folk,... assimilated into Chinese culture in China and was emerging as part of the fabric of Chinese culture everywhere throughout China, but also emerging there at the Shaolin Temple. Bodhidharma(Tamo) may have contributed indirectly to the germination of the "Muscle/Tendon Change", "Marrow/Brain Wash", "18 Lohan" and "8 Pieces of Brocade" since he contributed to not just Chan/Chan Buddhism but also Qigong and martial arts since at the ShaolinTemple Monastery/Culture Chan/Chan Buddhism, Qi Gong, Martial Arts and Medicine were inseparable. The "18 Lohan(Arhat)" emerged far much later and were developed, after Bodhidharma. The Chinese Chan Buddhist Patriarchs exceeded the Shaolin Temple Monastery. There were 6 Patriarchs of Chinese Chan Buddhism in total. Bodhidharma was never an Abbot nor disciple of the temple. Only Huike's master and honorable guest. The 18 Lohans(Arhats) themselves weren't originally 18. There was "The Buddha" and then "The 500 Arhats", more or less. Out of the 500 Arhats there were the Great/Primary "4 Arhats". Since Buddhism came from India to China, as it assimilated into, developed throughout, evolved in,... the Chinese culture the process of bringing the number from a low number of a single digit of the 4 Great/Primary Lohans(Arhats) up to sometimes 10 Lohans(Arhats) then finally a high double digit of the 18 Lohans(Arhats), was a historical thing as part of the Chinese Buddhist culture. Even Bodhidharma(Tamo) was sometimes used as inspiration for 1 of the last 2 Lohans that were added far after Bodhidharma's time to bring the Lohans(Arhats) to the high double digit number of 18. A number both cultures, the Chinese & Indian could agreed with. The number 18 is a number the Chinese like, culturally.

The truth is that there were many contributions by many that came to the temple, including the Dhyana Master Buddhabhadra(Batuo) with his work on Buddhism and his contributions of the sharing of his culture, his translations, "The 7 Postures of Batuo" and yoga/Ayurveda/meditation. The temple was built for him and he became the first Abbot. The Dhyana Master Bodhidharma(Tamo) from an Indian Mahayana Buddhism Sect. in India with adding his own Buddhist philosophy(2 Entrances), teachings and yoga/Ayurveda/meditation. Huike's contributions of establishing the new curriculum that led to the emergence of the Shaolin culture where Qi Gong, Folk medicine, Chan Buddhism(Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Folk,...), Chan meditation/Chan Buddhism and martial arts became inseparable and led to the emergence of the revered "18 Lohan", the "18 Lohan Hands(Qigong and martial arts)" then "18 Lohan Fist(Qigong and martial arts) at the Shaolin Temple Monastery. The monks revered the Lohans and through imitation came up with the Qi Gong "18 Lohan Hands" from inspiration and in the same fashion as Hua Tuo, a physician that was somewhere around the 2nd and 3rd century ce. who came up with the Qi Gong "5 Animal Sports". Then from the "18 Lohan Hands" Qi Gong came it's Martial Arts. Then from the "18 Lohan Hands" qigong and martial arts came the qigong and martial arts "18 Lohan Fist". Out from the "18 Lohan Hands" qi gong came the "18 Lohan Fist" and "5 Animals Fist(Also influenced by the "5 Animal Sports(Qi Gong of Hua Tuo)". But there's no one creator or founder of Traditional/Folk Chinese Shaolin Medicine, Chinese Shaolin Qi Gong, Chinese Shaolin Chan Buddhism, Chinese Shaolin Chan Meditation nor Chinese Shaolin Martial Arts/Kung Fu. Just a natural emergence, byproduct of the many, collective of cultures assimilated into Chinese culture that shaped and took place within the country and eventually the Shaolin Temple Monastery/Shaolin Culture. Which is why a founder was appointed for legitimacy since the Shaolin Temple Monastery through Shaolin Chan Buddhism, Shaolin Qi Gong, Shaolin Medicine, Shaolin Martial Arts,... was growing in popularity as inseparable, one thing. Leading with Shaolin Chan Buddhism since the Shaolin Temple Monastery was first of all, a Buddhist monastery.

It was a Shaolin martial arts expert monk named Jueyuan that took the 18 techniques of the 18 Lohan Hands to 72 techniques and then went out in the country, met a martial arts expert layman named Li Sou who took the 72 techniques to 107 and then introduced the monk Jueyuan to a friend of his who was another martial arts expert layman named Bai Yufeng and his son. Bai Yufeng took the techniques further, compiled and recorded(written) it down. All four together came to the Shaolin Temple Monastery and while there for over 10 years developed what eventually became the "5 Animals Fist". Afterwards, Li Sou left the temple and continued with his life while Bai Yufeng and his son stayed at the temple and became Shaolin monks. The truth is that Shaolin Temple Monastery was a center in China where it's history was tied with power, education, enlightenment, rebellion, spirituality, government, military,...
