Theory: The main cast were at a Halloween party watching hilariously bad B-movies and Jerry passed out drunk, with him dreaming of the whole episode (which would explain why some things like the apartment layout and Newman don't look like they usually do). <br>Prior to this, he also witnessed George get dumped by his latest girlfriend because she felt he had poor social skills, Elaine showing frustration for not having a vibe she liked and Kramer wishing he could make clones of himself after saying he spent so much time doing errands around the city.

So Kramer basically brought the Multiplicity concept and dream to life. Of course this episode brilliantly captures the inevitable endpoint of man's ongoing meaning after having been replaced as they are better and being more efficient than we could truly be.
