When film footage like this the vision and sound was recorded separately and added after editing. This is how I was involved in documentary making late 1960’s. Technology has come a long way since then. Difficult now to find the editing equipment that can redo much of the old stuff and few folks remain who know how it was done. I am 8.8 decades old and remember it well 😊

I'm a Gunsmith and a modern version of his machine, called a duplicator, is still used to this day to make roughed out gun stocks. The ones now are much smaller and simpler, but the concept is still the same. It's really cool to see such an old one in action and see how they worked back then. I've always enjoyed old belt drive machines.

7:53 am North Carolina. These older generation could snap the necks of this generation half their age. I had an uncle that grew up doing carpentry work with hand saws and no electric tools. His arms were as hard as railroad iron

Every single one of these craftsmen owe their existence to the blacksmith, the real unsung hero.

It’s the installation of the laces that are key to a great fit…

Hobart Tasmania Australia-ex UK Yorkshireman. In my younger years I cut eucalyptus trees down and cut up firewood with a two handed timber saw seen in this video. I have it mounted above our front door under the porch. My old Solingen meat cleaver hangs in the kitchen and still gets used. We live on a natural timbered 5-acres and over the years I have gathered old tools, scythes, axes, saws etc. to satisfy my historical interests. Greetings from Tasmania 😊
