How To Flush Your Heating System Using The Outside Tap!

This is a method I have been doing for many years to help flush radiators and give all the pipe circuits a flush. But it will not flush sludge filled radiators properly, especially if you don’t drain the system beforehand.
Running mains pressure water through bottom of a radiator will still not remove the sludge.
To prove I am right, remove a smallish radiator and flush it outside using garden hose and once if runs clean water, turn it upside down and add some water to the rad, (about 1/3 full max) then turn the rad back up again and upside down rapidly several times. Now try flushing through the bottom of the rad again using garden hose and you will find it very dirty water again.
Also if you flush a system that remains full of water, the water forms a barrier against the flow of water and much of the dirt will remain in bottom of rad - a bit like trying to flush a bucket full of water that has dirt in base by just pointing hose at top of bucket.
Removing rads and flushing them outside is best method but laborious. Use a central heating chemical in system for full max period - some are a week, before flushing.
Flushing system does clean pipes well.
