Let’s get into the depth of it in the video. Ahsoka: “ And you don’t have to follow me. This is my choice.” Anakin: “Then it’s mine too.” Ahsoka: “Anakin…” Anakin: “I mean it. I’m not letting you walk away from all this alone.” Anakin: “They were wrong. About you. About… everything. I can’t stand in that Council room another day pretending I trust their judgment.” Ahsoka: “You still believe in the Jedi, though.” Anakin: “I believe in what they’re supposed to be. Not what they’ve become.” Ahsoka: “If you leave, you’re giving up everything you worked for.” Anakin: “No. I’m walking away from titles and politics. Not from helping people. We can still do that… our way.” They start walking toward the Temple gates together. The massive doors loom behind them like the closing of a chapter. Clones at the entrance glance at them, unsure if they should salute. Anakin nods at them once, and they let the pair pass without a word. As they cross the courtyard, the noise of the city grows louder. Ahsoka: “You really think we can make a difference outside the Order?” Anakin: “We’ve made the biggest difference when the Council wasn’t telling us what to do. Christophsis. Mortis. Even saving the Chancellor on Naboo. None of that came from following orders.” Ahsoka: “You also broke a lot of rules doing all that.” Anakin: “Exactly.” Anakin and Ahsoka leave the Temple behind, speeding through Coruscant’s crowded skies until the city swallows its towers. They settle into a dim, oil-scented hangar deep in the lower levels, far from the Council’s reach. Days blur as they chase distress calls and strike quickly without oversight, victories stacking but shadows lengthening. At night, Anakin’s visions sharpen, pulling him toward a danger he cannot yet name. Padmé sits in her apartment, reading Anakin’s encrypted message on her datapad. She smiles faintly at his words about helping people directly, but the smile fades when she thinks about the dangers. She knows Anakin sees leaving the Jedi as a chance for them to be open about their marriage — maybe even to have her travel with him. But she also knows that would put both of them in the crosshairs of political enemies. She looks out at the city’s glowing horizon, her expression caught between pride and worry. Padmé: “You’re free now, Anakin… but I just hope you’re safe.” Two months have passed since Anakin walked away from the Jedi Order with Ahsoka at his side. Life beyond the Temple walls is quieter but no less demanding. They’ve taken small missions for trusted allies, avoiding direct involvement in the Senate’s politics, working in the shadows to help people hurt by the war. For the first time in years, they’ve had the freedom to choose their own battles — yet both carry an unspoken restlessness. Not long after his departure, Obi-Wan had reached out to bring him back, but Anakin sent a firm transmission stating his decision to leave the Order. The exchange turned into a tense argument, ending with Obi-Wan reluctantly accepting his choice and informing the Council. For now, only the Council knows the truth of his departure. Despite their new path, the war is never far away. On long nights between missions, Anakin still speaks to Padmé through encrypted transmissions, their conversations a fragile thread of normalcy in a galaxy still teetering on the edge. Then, one evening, as Coruscant’s skylanes glow with streams of traffic, an encrypted military transmission cuts through their private comm. The voice is Rex’s — low, urgent, and edged with something Anakin hasn’t heard from him in years: fear. Rex: “General… it’s Fives. He’s found something. Big. He’s not safe.” Anakin: “What happened? Is he hurt?” Rex: “I can’t explain over comms, sir. Too many ears. You need to see for yourself.” Anakin: “Rex, talk to me. What’s going on?” Rex: “I’m sorry, General… this isn’t the kind of thing I can say here. Please — just come.” Anakin: “Send me your location. We’re on our way.” Ahsoka meets his eyes — no words needed. She can feel the tension rolling off him, the way his jaw tightens at the unknown. Without another exchange, they grab their gear and head for a small civilian transport, keeping low under the radar as they descend toward a secure medical wing. Inside the quiet, dimly lit facility, they find Fives lying on a bed, hooked to recovery monitors. He looks pale but alert, his armor in pieces on a nearby chair. #starwars #starwarswhatif #whatif
