Sydnor delivering the subpoena to Clay Davis might be my single favorite scene in the entire show

I had always thought sydnor was the younger version of Freeman who just hadn’t gotten himself shelved yet

Sydnor is the audience surrogate. who we would not necessarily want to be but who we honestly would be in the fucked up situation of the institution. He is good nature police without the emotional damage of some of the other characters that are more fleshed out. He is left vague to represent anyone decent.

He’s the reliable one! Every office has the one person who always does what they are supposed to do hut never gets noticed because they are so reliable. That’s him

Sydnor strikes me as that cool guy from work that’s pretty good at it too and mad friendly, but he’s only there for the work and nothing else. You might get a glimpse of his life here and there, but the person is about the mission or the job at hand.

The best line I think I’ve ever heard that makes me love the wire even more you said “the show refuses to tell me how to feel about it” !

The actor who played Ray Cole was also one of the show's producers, which is why he received an on-screen eulogy.

Sydnor is mcnulty before he became jaded. Just a cop learning and growing with the job until he gets to a point where he can lift the curtains to see how things are really run and slowly becomes jaded like mcnulty.
