A really fun episode. I love it when Riker says "Make sure you take all this junk with ya" 😂

Cmdr. Nella Daren. The episode explored the kinds of conflicts of interest that have a tendency to arise when you bring romance into a chain of command.

Jen's thumbnail shows she finally got to see what she was waiting for. But like any good TNG, the fan service isn't going to be given that easily.

There's another dimension here that was more prevalent back when this episode aired than it is now: their professional relationship. Picard has mostly towed the 90s line that a captain must have a certain detachment from their crew. He's only made one exception to that before, and we saw how that went: his duty as captain led to the end of their relationship.

My point is how profound an impact those mind-reading implants must've had for him to throw caution to the wind and go for it again at the end. That's how badly he wants that kind of companionship. He knows he shouldn't date anyone under his command and yet he tried anyway.
