Eric, thank you for your truly informative lecture on this fascinating episode of history. Much appreciated. The reasons, as you said, are complex. <br><br>As an aside, I am really interested in considering why Britain was able to go down a different path and not suffer the dramatic tumult that France had. The fact that England had a house of commons, while French parliaments were comprised of just self interested nobility, and England was able to have a bloodless "Glorious Revolution" is interesting, granted there was a civil war. <br>Things in British history like the Magna Carta were significant obviously in determining destiny, and Ive read that the Anglo Saxon moot court system decision making to local villages were significant in determining Englands early political DNA. Can these things be connected or am I drawing a very long bow ??
