  Sounds like american companies should he held accountable for hiring illegal wage slaves instead of paying a decent wage that would incentives americans to come work

  Also you need to mention one thing: keeping people status as undocumented creates a system in which employers can avoid paying minimum income and any type of benefits. It&apos;s a continuation of slavery.

  I used to work with some authorized immigrants around 2008, sweating in a restaurant in the back, cleaning…9PM to 5AM, these guys would leave that job to go work another in a deli…insanity, idk where they would find the strength to stay awake

  I came here when I was 14, my mother did all of the paperwork for me to become a citizen, I served in Afghanistan from 2012-2013, completed my first semester in college in 2014, and upon registering for the very next semester, the registrar had a blast with a huge smirk on her face telling me I couldn&apos;t attend because I was not a citizen. After a daily long back and forth with the Social Security Administration, I found out that the government did not process my citizenship because it was just in limbo with no errors. They thought I was dumb by trying to have me go through the application the standard way but there was an expedited process for veterans. Had I not gone to college and encountered that wretch of a registrar, I too would have been deported back to my country of origin. This same thing happened to another veteran who was born in my country but he served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He had already gone through the application process in his younger days and had no errors in his documents. Anyone in limbo just gets ejected with no explanation. I got lucky while he is still currently fighting to return.

  I was born in Venezuela to an Italian immigrant family, but Miami is where I truly grew up. We moved there when I was 8, and from that moment on, Miami became my world. It’s where I made my friends, where I went to school, where I got my first job, it’s where every part of my childhood and early adulthood happened. I didn’t just live in Miami; I belonged there. I still say I’m from Miami because that’s the only place that ever felt like home.<br><br>I always dreamed of joining the Air Force or the Army, of serving the country I loved. But I couldn’t, I was undocumented the whole time I was living in the U.S. And after years of trying to build a life, in 2010, when I couldn’t find work for six months because of my status, I had no choice but to leave. I was 25, and when that plane took off, I cried like a child. Watching my city disappear beneath me, knowing I was leaving behind my entire life and that I couldn’t come back, that broke me.<br><br>I moved to Italy to be with family, but it didn’t feel like home. I didn’t fit in, didn’t feel like I belonged. I tried going back to Venezuela, but it was even worse. I didn’t talk like them, didn’t act like them, I was a stranger in the place I was born. So I ended up back in Italy because I had no other choice, and eventually, I made my way to the UK.<br><br>Now I’m 40, living in a country I never imagined, and I still feel like I’m searching for home. No matter where I go, nothing feels right. I still love Miami and America the way someone loves the place they were born and raised. I dream that someday I’ll be able to go back, even just to visit. I want to show my wife and daughter the place where I grew up, walk the streets of my old neighborhood, visit the school where I spent my childhood, and share all the memories that still live in my heart. I’ve been gone for so long, but Miami has never stopped being home.

  That is funny that US citizens are not liable for illegally hiring immigrants, but illegal immigrants are punished for doing the jobs that most Americans don&apos;t want to do. The hypocrisy is astonishing!
