  I actually just managed to purchase a 10 acre plot IN the Mark Twain National Forest. I'm getting reading to clear a driveway to the very back where I have 1 acre cleared and am planning to build a larger tiny house. The only way you'll ever even be able to see it is from the air and my closest neighbor in any direction is about 8 miles away. Man I can't wait until it's done.

  American hiker here. Ive been to the Smokys a couple of times. I once did a strenuous hike with a friend that accidentally went into the night. Nothing truly creepy happened, but let me tell you it's scary how fast the woods turn dark and ominous once the sun goes down. I will say I went on a hike in West Virginia and ran into some very unsettling people on a less traveled trail. I saw them from afar off the trail. My friend was with me and we bith decided we should be quiet and quickly pass by them. It's hard to explain but something about them seemed dangerous.

  We tell people the same thing unless you want to be a bear or cougar's dinner, both are sighted regularly. Nature wins again.

  I live way out in the Midwest USA on a ranch. My house was built in the 1860's, 2-story, 3-brick thick with plaster walls. No close neighbors. I love it. I don't see how anyone lives in cities. Seems weird to me. I rarely leave my property.  We all open carry out here. We have a very polite society here 😊

  If you hear something…no you didn’t. &nbsp;<br>If you see something…no you fn didn’t. &nbsp;<br>Keep moving, &nbsp;and fast. &nbsp;<br>Don’t whistle, &nbsp;don’t call out, &nbsp;don’t answer back to any voices in the woods/dark where you can’t see calling no matter what they say, &nbsp;if you smell something horrible like 💀 it’s closer and you’d better get out of that area FAST.

  Appalachian rules for the mountains: Don’t whistle, don’t hum, and if you’re walking outside alone and someone says you’re name - you didn’t hear it. &nbsp;Calmly get inside as soon as possible.
