Engineer : "So the cheap way would be to do this and that, BUT the proper way would be to do such and such."<br>Corporate: "I'm sorry I didn't pay attention to that second part, anyway, how much money are we saving?"

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAk44UtuWHI&t=880">14:40</a> The Eco boost / Puretech belt issue is well-knowned (at least in Europe), it is given for 150 000 km but in reality you get around 40 000 on average (if you are lucky). Total over-sight from the manufacturer.

This is like aircraft maintenance, when the manual starts the actual work with "gain access" and then lists several other references that lead you down more rabbit holes you know you're in for a bad time.

It was absolutely plotted out, but not by engineers. By management. The problem is rich people needing a cut of everyone's labor.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAk44UtuWHI&t=1272">21:12</a> You said it, it's a common replacement item. Now think about what you said about that oil drain plug!

It's not the engineers fault, it's corporate trying to maximize profits by making them design the vehicles to be faster and cheaper to manufacture and assemble, regardless of reparability later on. Because they expect you to buy/lease a new car every couple of years now.

The issue with ford running wet belts is not that they degrade and snap, but that they degrade and clog your oil pickup, which leads to oil starvation of the engine. The tiny little 1.0l ecoboost which are popular in the UK are particularly bad for this, only made worse by the fact that ford says the belt should only be changed every ten years, and oil changes every 2 years with special wet belt oil, when in reality they need to be done about half that, and some people even reccomend oil changes every 6 months for an econobox which is run by non mechanically minded people.

The worst part of E dipsticks, is most of them require the engine to be running, so you are not sure if the vehicle has enough oil, or too much oil, but you have to run the vehicle to check

I had an old Subaru Brat...and didn't realize the easy to get to dipstick was the <b>transmission</b> dipstick, and that the oil dipstick was actually buried...Kept getting oil lights, checked the wrong dipstick, and turned the engine into a solid (if large) paperweight...

I recently replaced a battery on an ‘08 Sebring with the battery in front of the drivers side tire just like in your video, but with the battery turned 90*. Negative terminal toward the front of the car, positive toward the rear. The battery positive terminal was the only one accessible. So much for disconnecting the negative terminal first. The battery cables route to under the hood to a couple of jump start locations. I was able to disconnect both terminals from that location. Also, when I tried to remove the hold down bracket, the bolt head twisted off. I had to use PB blaster and vice grips to wiggle the remaining bolt threads back and forth until I was able to remove it. I’m glad I did it before winter hit. It would not be a fun job in the cold weather.

Non serviceable is in so many sectors now, as someone who fixes electronics, computers mainly, it's getting to a point where work is scarce, too many devices require you to RMA them rather than take them to a local place, warranty repair is a huge business and manufacturers don't like possibly unqualified people messing with their products. I watch a guy on YT, 'I Do Cars', lots of cool videos on broken engines, but he's lately had videos relating to this kind of stuff.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAk44UtuWHI&t=80">1:20</a> honestly if the mechanic can document the work required to access the chain, like they did in the video, the customer will likely redirect their anger towards the manufacturer.
