I’m not a black metal fan but I spent all my life growing up in Appalachia. My grandpa was a coal miner 40 years and when someone told me this was a black metal album of coal country protest songs, well I had to give it a listen.

This is absolutely exquisite. Honestly the production, the vocals the melody the band, the historical clips put in. Top to bottom this is black gold. Am still not a fan of the genre but I am a fan of this album.

i live in the rustbelt, grew up poor, and my dad died from welder's lung this past summer.
i've always felt a kinship with appalachians, and returning to this album for the first time since he passed, i feel it more intensely than i'd expect. workers of the world unite.

the emotions of despair and anger this album conveys is stronger than any intentional DSBM work i've ever heard. hundreds of times more raw and real
