Which era MJ do you think was his "Prime"?

His peak was 90-93. Those 4 seasons he was by far the best player ever and I think he gave away his 5th year of peak when he retired for 94.

 His athletic prime was 84-89.

His peak as a player with the best combination of athleticism, leadership and intelligent play was 90-93.

His 3rd prime was where he was unstoppable due to sheer veteran craftiness and fundamentals as his athleticism slowly faded from 95-03.

88-89 was his physical peak, he was flying everywhere even his jump shots are so high. .

People forget he was putting up 40 point games at age 40, without 3 pointers. The man would be deadly in today's league......

The Wizards years are massively underrated. He started out on fire, but then got injured, and played through injury the rest of the way. Also, he was gone for 3 years before this comeback, which is absolutely unheard of, much less being at that age. That is not possible to come back in any sport, even in your prime, be gone for 3 long years and be anyplace close to the same athlete, never mind at his really advanced age and 1/2 his jumping ability, if that, remaining. Despite it all, he was still really impressive - but of course, he is compared to PRIME Mike rather than what he was able to do that was unprecedented by anyone ever

MJ was at his prime from 88-93. But his peak was from 91-93. That’s when he became the GOAT imo.

The thing with Jordan is that his game aged like fine wine. I guess you would consider his prime to be 1988, 89 when he was averaging 35 and was DPOTY.
But at the end of his career, he had mastered the fundamentals, footwork and fadeaway and he would kill you with jump shots as opposed to dunking half the time and he was still elite on defense.
There was one playoff game when he scored 55 with taking 3 or less dribbles on every possession. That’s still mastery without the explosive dunks.

In 1988 MJ had 35 ppg, 1.6 bpg, 3.2 spg won DPOY, MVP and a scoring title

In 1987 MJ had 37 ppg, 1.5 bpg, 2.8 spg. He wasn’t nominated to any all team defensive that year

This version of MJ to me is the mythical MJ. Quick slender, slasher. I’d take this MJ to the modern NBA easily
