One thing that works SO well about this scene is that he bursts out onto Times Square. Setting aside the unlikeliness of SHIELD having a secret base on one of the busiest intersections in the world, my point is, no native New Yorker (I am one too) could possibly mistake Times Square for anywhere else. No matter how different the ads and the technology. The shape of that multi-street intersection and the billboard sites are unique. They're always changing the ads anyway. Seeing Times Square--the cultural center of his own hometown--with future technology all over it was the best way to instantly convince Steve that he truly was in the future

How were they not smart enough to play a baseball game on the radio that occurred after he went missing? The radio guy had one job, geez.

I enjoy watching people watch films that I liked immensely. That being said, you can really tell who has been present for the entire movie and who hasn't.

To those of us that read the comics, this scene was not a surprise. We mostly wondered how they were going to show it.
