I met Roy when I was a security guard at the Holiday Inn BWI. I was doing my usual rounds and checked in with the bartender to see if there were any problem children around. I noticed a man sitting at the far end of the bar and asked "Nick, that guy looks familiar. Who is he?" and Nick answered "Roy... and I finished it by saying "Benavidez". Roy hear this and waived me over. When I stood next to him he said "Son, not to many people know me, how do you know me?" (or something like that) and I replied "I read your book" and he looked stunned and said "You are the first person I have met who has read my book Before meeting me, usually they read it after meeting me" and we laughed. He invited me to drink with him the next night and I sat with two other SF soldiers and listened to them talk. It was great and I am blessed for being in such great company!

There’s no sports star, no movie star, and no politician we can’t do without, but we can NOT do without real American hero’s like this gentleman. God Bless.

This man was killed three times before he finished his job. Fortunately for him, nobody bothered to tell him.

Sickens me that people idolize worthless celebrities, but not people like Benavidez.
