I remember seeing all the great Revox audio equipment in hf-fi shops in Toronto Canada. Priced far beyond my means, but I could dream. They looked awesome and the sound was amazing. The Japanese audio companies soon took over and all of the European brands were gone (Revox, Grundig, Telfunken, Uher, Phillips). I still have a working Uher Report 4000; the build quality is amazing.

During the 1970's a neighbour bought a Revox system (A77 tape, tuner, amplifier and speakers). We used to have a party in summer outside in our quarter each year, where he used this equipment for the dancing floor. I was a child then and admired it, and later I became a HiFi enthusiast myself.

I have an A-77 MK II, modified by Lamb Laboratories, sitting on my equipment shelves. In 2002, sent it, now 30-years-old, to Revox U.S. to replace the pilot light. They replaced the bulb and lubricated it, all for free.

RIP Revox.

Back in 1970 l bought an A77 from where l worked at a pro broadcasting supply co.
I used it for years it was a half track machine.
In 1977 l when l owned a Pro-Audio supply co. I had the ReVox line. When l built a recording studio and had a B77 that l modified so the motors could bevturnd off like the A77 then l could edit final finished music for mastering to give to the vinyl mastering lab for albums.

My master tapes were never questioned for playback sound quality.
Yes, ReVox was my Studer substitute 😊
