Another method is to melt the wax first and use a new, unused paint brush or a silicone basting brush to paint on the wax. This gives better control over how much wax you brush on. To much wax makes the wraps and bags crease and the wax breaks off.

You can use Teflon needles to avoid buildup of wax. You can also sew over parchment paper so that wax pieces do not fall into your sewing machine. The parchment paper just rips off, but it’s a barrier between your waxed fabric and your sewing machine.

I made 2 beeswax bread bags and gave them to my niece along with cast iron bread pans and a bread recipe for a wedding gift. Now I’m making some for my kids for Christmas. This time I’ll square up the bottom. Thank you for sharing this tutorial!

You don't want to get the beeswax too hot because you will destroy the antimicrobial properties which prevents the mold and stuff growing . Not more than 170• F

I have been looking for inexpensive linen for months now to make bread bags, and I just thrifted some 50/50 cotton/linen. It’s washed and dried, and now I’m looking for ideas. Your beeswax bags are so gorgeous! I don’t know if I want to try the beeswax on my linen blend, but the blanket and pillow cases are all lined with cotton, so I could make coordinating beeswax bags to go with the linen bread bags 😊
