  The first new car I ever purchased: an early phase 2 in pearlescent white on the then new E plate. Some gentlemen in Buckingham aided me with a simple mechanical adaption that allowed the boost to go utterly nuts and it would spin its front tyres on anything less than bone dry, hot tarmac. These little manic boxes could seriously handle bends and with over-boost it was bloody quick, too. The engine was very similar to the push rod unit I had in an earlier Renault 12 (a car I mercilessly rag to work so hard that the front brake discs would be smoking by the time I arrived). Such happy days, less traffic, less nannying and no police fundraising exercises hiding around every corner.

  I had a Turbo 2 back in 1992 and unfortunately lost my job in 1993. I sold the Turbo 2 and got a GT Turbo plus cash in a p/ex. Had the car for 2 years and drove it like I stole 90% of the time. Never missed a beat in about 25k miles. I put a vented bonnet on mine and that solved the hot starting issue. Great little car with fond memories of trips to Le Mans and around the UK.

  I had a mate who bought a lot of fast cars one after another almost monthly and he had a Renault 5 GT Turbo and I copped a ride in it back in the very early 90s. I remember when the turbo kicked in it was the fastest momentary acceleration I&apos;d ever experienced.<br>The big word in that sentence is momentary. The Renault 5 turbo was scary fast when it came on boost but it lasted less than a couple of seconds before the redline and a gearchange. Perhaps still in boost but in third gear so &nbsp;less stratospheric acceleration.<br>Bigger engined cars went harder for longer but the R5 was the peak I remember.<br>It felt like warp drive back then.<br>Luv and Peace.

  Now that I think of it, the editing is quite smooth. Filming from a leading car, switching to inside the cabin, with the leading car missing, is uninterruptedly done. 👏
