  Now that the shop vac is full of angry Yellowjackets, it’s time to offer the vacuum to any nasty neighbors with the caveat of “you will  need to clean the filter before using”

  Plexiglass chamber will only work if you allow an airstream through it. If you noticed that yellow jackets are not being sucked into the vacuum because you have insufficient airflow. If you insist on using the plexiglass chamber just for viewing purposes, that you need some sort of air inlet to allow an airstream.  It could just be holes covered with screen..

  I still like how we used to do it when I was a kid. Pour about a cup of gasoline down the hole. Before we knew the gas alone did the trick, we would flick a lit match at it and watch the ground pop up. 😂

  Just placing the vacuum pipe next to the hole, creating horizontal airstream seemed to be more effective.<br>You could try attaching a T-fitting to the hose to direct the airstream and force the yellowjackets to pass it, while also creating a bit of suction via the venturi effect.

  Back in the day, my mom would put mothballs in the vacuum bags to kill any bugs or varmints that were vacuumed up… she also put some sort of scented beads or something in the bags so the smell of the mothballs wouldn’t be so prevalent. it worked. The days when an all metal Electrolux was the king and worked excellent
