12:16 to field your question: Yes, you can remove the flash drive so long as you are not drip feeding the program. I would also advise against drip feeding when not absolutely necessary.

Programs should always be run on the machine's on board memory when possible! Here is why:

"Drip feeding" is when the program is being run directly from an external drive. This will only load a set number of lines at a time to your machine (hence the name "drip" feed). Once a line is ran, it is dumped from the short term memory. As lines are uploaded in batches, if data corruption, or a miscommunication occurs, this can result in a crash even though the program itself is safe and has been run 10x times before with no issue.

The more common way of running a program is by saving the program to your machine's "on board" memory.

This is accomplished by either uploading the program from a drive/ethernet connection, or by programming manually on the machine!

Additionally to saftery concerns, having your programs located inside the machine is prefered as most control schemes do not allow the editing of a program via the machine control unless its located within the machine's own directory. On-the-fly editing is often a must for job shop environments;

however, drip feeding has one clear use-case scenario. If your machine's native memory isnt large enough to house a program, drip feed it instead as this method circumvents memory overflow.

Machinst by trade. Hope this helped!

    If your tool-changer does that again there should be a recovery process on the control I can't remember exactly where it is on the siemens but you can basically run the tool changer step by step and index the carousel in some menus. It may be buttons on the front if memory serves so like you press the arm cw/ccw plus the + key to jog it pretty sure it requires you to press the clamp unclamp button manually though. :)

    It must be very hard to find a dropped screw on that floor. Thanks for the helpful info.

    There may be an m code that is needed for the hose washdown.

    Before you switch to a Haas, test drive their control. Since you are now familiar with the Siemens 828D, the Haas control will feel off less refined and harder to navigate. IMO, the Siemens' conversational interface is the best on the market right now.

    The coolant pump will turn on with M38. M39 will turn off the pump. Go to MDA and punch in M38 - cycle start and make sure the hose is pointed in the machine. Those handles they provide belong in the garbage.

    On my x9 the wash down can be turned on with M38 (off M39), I also noticed that the "10 000" button above cycle start will turn it on.

    Good little review of the machine. Great garage setup! Where are you located? Do you have a website for your knives?

    Great video. The Syil seems to be a good machine. I've seen someone cut mold parts from P20 tool steel on one without any problem.
